Introduction

Higher education as a driver in the HUmanisation of PEDiatric pain CARE (HUPEDCARE)

The Universities of Africa, Latin America, and Europe recognize the necessity to modernize academic and professional training processes, necessitating an extensive use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and a flexible curricular structure incorporating contemporary subjects such as the Humanisation of Pediatric Pain Care (HPPC). The principal objective of this project is to identify and implement transformative ICT actions at African and Latin-American universities to facilitate integration, knowledge creation, and academic-scientific cooperation concerning HPPC. The specific goals include developing technological solutions for connectivity, collaborative work, and joint learning, generating applied knowledge about HPPC among universities in Europe, Africa, and Latin America using new technological resources, establishing 7 Technology Learning Centres in HPPC (PedTECH), and applying capacities acquired in HPPC to develop new content and disseminate it across academic and non-academic levels.

Furthermore, recognizing pediatric care as a priority in Africa and Latin America and aiming to enhance collaboration between universities, contacts are necessary for joint teaching innovation projects and thematic networks of trainers in the field of HPPC.

The anticipated outcomes of the project encompass:

• Strengthening collaboration between partners.
• The development of a specialized platform for knowledge transfer in HPPC.
• The establishment of 7 technological training centres in HPPC.
• Capacity building in HPPC of significant interest on the African continent and in Latin America.

All these outcomes are based on the technological solutions implemented in this project.
